City have reportedly agreed a £2m deal with Wrexham for defender Issa Kaboré, who is now set to undergo a medical ahead of a permanent move.
Daily Ma*l journalist Simon Jones reports that the two clubs have agreed a fee for the Burkina Faso international following his loan spell at Wrexham last season.
The deal would finally bring Kaboré’s unusual City career to an end.
He joined the club from Belgian side KV Mechelen in 2020 but never made a competitive senior appearance for City.
Instead, the right-back spent much of the next six years out on loan.
Kaboré set for permanent Wrexham move
Kaboré’s travels took him to Mechelen, Troyes, Marseille, Luton Town, Benfica and Werder Bremen before he joined Wrexham on a season-long loan last September.
The 25-year-old made 20 Championship appearances for Wrexham despite missing part of the campaign through injury.
His performances were evidently enough to convince the Welsh club to pursue a permanent deal.
There had already been reports that Wrexham wanted to keep Kaboré, with City said to be seeking a fee in the region of €2m to €4m.
Jones now reports that an agreement has been reached at £2m and that Kaboré is set for a medical.
For City, it is another piece of outgoing business in a summer of considerable squad turnover under Enzo Maresca.
But for Kaboré, meanwhile, it offers the chance to finally put down some roots after six successive loan moves away from the Etihad.
