City’s pursuit of an Everton attacker faces fresh competition, with Al Hilal opening talks over a move for Iliman Ndiaye, according to Fabrizio Romano.
City have monitored the Senegal international for much of the year, with Hugo Viana and Enzo Maresca said to have identified him as a versatile option capable of playing wide or through the middle. That interest was revived this summer as City reshape their attacking options following the departures of several senior players.
Romano reports that Al Hilal’s move is at an early stage, but that the Saudi club want Ndiaye as a second marquee arrival after completing a deal for Crysencio Summerville. Ndiaye’s representatives are said to be open to discussions, though any transfer depends on Everton’s stance.
The 26-year-old has three years left on his contract at Hill Dickinson Stadium and is valued at around £69m by the Toffees, a fee that would represent a significant outlay for either side. Ndiaye scored six goals and added three assists in 32 Premier League appearances last season, and recently spoke of his ambition to play Champions League football, comments that will have encouraged suitors including City.
Should Al Hilal formalise their approach, Maresca’s side may need to move quickly or risk losing a player they have watched for close to a year. Everton, for their part, are expected to hold out for a fee well above what Al Hilal paid for Summerville if they are to sanction a sale.
