- Rodri’s contract expiring next season
- Man City looking to renew deal
- Agreement seems promising
Manchester City are ready to take advantage of Real Madrid’s inactivity by extending Rodri’s stay at the club.
Rodri has been linked with a move away from Manchester City, with expectations of a return to La Liga this summer.
However, Man City want to keep Rodri and were previously said to be confident in their ability to hold onto the midfielder.
His current contract will expire next year, so it is important that City come to an agreement with Rodri in the next couple of months.
Man City are working hard to secure Rodri’s future at the club
Matteo Moretto has revealed that Rodri is getting closer to renewing his existing deal at Manchester City.
El Real Madrid aún no ha dado ningún paso oficial con el Manchester City respecto a Rodri, a pesar del interés que tiene por él, y ahora el centrocampista está más cerca de renovar con el club inglés.

The Carabao Cup winners are ready to step up and accelerate the process, having already been negotiating with the 29-year-old for weeks.
Better still, Real Madrid have yet made an effort to speak with Man City, despite their well documented interest in Rodri.
Rodri might not be a long-term option for Man City
The Citizens are looking for Rodri to add at least another year to his contract, but he might not be sticking around for multiple seasons.
There has already been movement from the club, including plans to sign Kennet Eichhorn as the Spaniard’s future successor.
It sounds like Rodri is highly likely to recommit himself to Man City, but there are no reports of a multi-year deal.
With the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner lifting every trophy on offer in England, expecting him to move on within the next two or three years seems plausible.
Pep Guardiola needs Rodri back from injury
Despite the positive news on Rodri, he has remained unavailable since Man City’s win over Arsenal due to injury.
Since then, the Sky Blues have scraped past Southampton in the FA Cup, and been held to a Premier League draw by Everton.
The midfield maestro has been missed and with some season-defining matches coming up, Pep Guardiola needs his star back.
City will face off against Crystal Palace tonight, before taking on Chelsea on Saturday in the FA Cup final.
With Rodri, they stand a better chance of winning in both games. Especially since up to this point, Guardiola has been unable to find an adequate replacement.
