Nico O’Reilly predicts title race will go to the wire

Speaking via the Manchester City website, O’Reilly discussed the state of the title race, and how he and his teammates are coping with the pressure.

He said: “We’re confident in ourselves. There are still a few games to go, and it could go down to the last game.

“We’re going to try and win every game and score as much as we can. We’re going into every game trying to put a good performance in and win.”

Manchester City relegated to third tier in 1998

Following relegation from the Premier League in 1996, City finished 14th in Division One (now the Championship) a year later.

However, hopes of a return to the top flight would vanish, when 1998 saw a second relegation, this time to Division Two.

That would mark the lowest level the club had played at since it joined the English Football League system in 1892.

The club would spend just one season in the third tier, though, gaining instant promotion back to Division One, before returning to the Premier League

Joe Hart says Manchester City will beat Arsenal to title

Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day on Saturday night, Hart argued that the spine of City’s team was too strong for them to slip up now.

He believed the Cityzens will win all of their remaining games, making Arsenal’s results irrelevant in the closing weeks.

Hart said: “I don’t care who Arsenal are going to lose to. Because I look at Manchester City, I look at their spine.

“Their spine is so strong. It’s either full of multiple winners, or people keeping multiple winners out of the team.

“I’m talking Rodri, I’m talking Bernardo Silva, I’m talking Erling Haaland. That is my spine that I want to be a part of in a title run-in.

And not only that, don’t forget who’s behind it all, another multiple winner, Pep Guardiola. I don’t think they will [drop points]. I think they’ll do whatever needs to be done.”

Manchester City star Jeremey Doku explains attacking intent

Speaking via the Man City Twitter (X) account, Doku has been discussing how he thinks during different attacking scenarios.

The forward explained his thought processes alongside an assortment of clips of him in possession from throughout the season.

Doku said: “To go for more as a modern-day winger is exciting, always. I try to create chaos. The ball comes, but I see Ryan Gravenberch, so I have to go quick at him before Ryan comes back.

“So now, when the ball comes quickly, I still have time to go inside and outside. Because Nico [O’Reilly] makes a run, Ryan is following, so the inside is open. My dribble was not that good, but I wanted to go inside because there was space there.

“Being direct has always been a big part of my game, because I fell like that’s what defenders don’t like. They like you to play around and stuff like that.

“But I just try to go at them, create chaos and make it a difficult day for them. I think when I’m confident, it’s difficult to stop me.

Manchester City fans celebrate Bernardo Silva and John Stones

With the season entering its final weeks, there are just a handful of games left in which fans can say their farewells to departing players.

It’s always an emotional time when much-loved stars leave, but these two City heroes will be remembered especially fondly.

In a post on their X (formerly Twitter) account, 1894 said they were working on tributes for Stones, Silva and Pep Guardiola, along with former City skipper Andy Morrison, who has recently been diagnosed with a neurological condition.
