  • Michael Oliver to oversee Everton vs Man City
  • Referee has already officiated City four times this season
  • Guardiola’s side saw mixed results under the official in 2025/26

Michael Oliver will referee Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League clash against Everton on Monday night as Pep Guardiola’s side look to secure an important result away from home.

Manchester City continue their push for the Premier League title after Arsenal returned to the top of the table last Saturday.

Guardiola’s men will travel to face Everton on Monday, 4th April, after more than a week of rest. Their last game was an FA Cup semi-final against Southampton, in which the Sky Blues secured a 2-1 win to reach the final.

Now, they have six games remaining in the final stretch of the season, with five in the Premier League and a cup final in mid-May.

Michael Oliver to referee Everton vs Manchester City

Michael Oliver will take charge of the contest at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday. The English referee has already officiated three City games in the Premier League this season.

The Citizens have won only once under the official. However, City are yet to win a single Premier League game under Oliver this season.

The win came in the FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool, where Guardiola’s men netted four against the Reds. This game saw both teams awarded a penalty, but Erling Haaland was more clinical from the spot than Mohamed Salah.

Michael Oliver’s recent record in Manchester City matches

Manchester City have received as many or more yellow cards than their opponents in Premier League matches officiated by Oliver this season.

The Englishman has handed out nine yellow cards to City players in the English top flight this season and six to their opponents.

On a wider note, Oliver has actually booked City’s opponents 22 times. However, he has only shown 18 yellow cards to Man City players.

Since the 2024/25 season, Oliver has officiated eight Man City games in the English top flight. The Carabao Cup winners have won three, drawn three and lost two of these matches.

Man City players cannot lose their temper on Monday

Despite a neutral to positive overall record, the bookings haven’t been on the lower side for Man City. With Guardiola’s men entering the final month of the season, they will have to be careful on Monday.

City players can’t afford to lose their temper against Everton and will have to keep their cool. Major injuries also add to the pressure as Guardiola is playing with his best backups on the defensive end.

Oliver is regarded as one of the most experienced referees who is regularly trusted with high-profile fixtures on the continent.

However, Man City’s disciplinary record under the official this season will be a point of concern for Guardiola on Monday.
