- Omar Marmoush rarely starts for Man City
- Linked with a move away from club
- Aston Villa return to complete deal
Manchester City could receive an offer from Aston Villa this summer, with the club interested in Omar Marmoush.
Erling Haaland is Manchester City’s top scorer, so it is no wonder he has been a nailed-on starter throughout the season.
The Norwegian has netted 35 goals and registered seven assists in all competitions, a record no one in Pep Guardiola’s squad could compete with.
This is especially true of Omar Marmoush. After all, the forward may have an eye for goal too, but he has not been given the minutes needed to truly succeed.
Aston Villa want to sign Omar Marmoush
Back in January, Unai Emery was keen on getting Aston Villa to take Omar Marmoush from Man City to Villa Park.
However, the Villains ended up signing Tammy Abraham instead, while the Egyptian remained at the club he joined at the start of 2025.
Still, The Times have reported that Aston Villa are looking to ‘lure’ Marmoush to the Black Country with the promise of an increase in his minutes.
Marmoush has not played much for Man City
Since the beginning of the season, Marmoush has made 30 starts for City, but only 13 of these have been starts.
The striker has been an unused substitute for three successive Premier League games, and his cup performances have gone unrewarded.
Indeed, Marmoush scored twice in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Newcastle, yet he did not play a minute of the final.
Similarly in the FA Cup, the 27-year-old scored a brace in the fifth round and once again, this was against the Magpies.
Despite this, Marmoush only played 13 minutes against Liverpool in the quarter-finals, which is harsh considering what he offered in the previous fixture.
Marmoush will leave Man City this season
While Marmoush has a good chance of starting against Southampton on Saturday evening, he is not going to be first choice at City unless Haaland picks up an injury.
Therefore, the incentive to stay at the club is simply not good enough when there are options to be playing first-team football at another top class side.
Aston Villa could be playing in the Champions League again next season, which would surely be appealing to Marmoush.
Unless Guardiola starts playing him more often, it is looking like a move is the only real possibility this summer.
