- Man City keen on Rafael Leao
- Other Premier League clubs interested
- Winger set for summer exit
Manchester City are considering a move for AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, but the attacker has plenty of interest from clubs across the continent.
Rafael Leao has played over 200 Serie A matches since making the move from LOSC Lille to AC Milan almost seven years ago.
The 26-year-old has won a league title with the club and last season they lifted the Italian Super Cup. As well as this, he was named as Milan’s player of the year in 2022/23.
However, Leao’s time at the San Siro could soon draw to a close, due to the frustration of Inter looking set to win Serie A.
Man City have enquired about Rafael Leao
According to the Daily Mail, Man City have made an enquiry about signing Leao when the summer transfer window opens.
AC Milan are open to offers for the winger, who is valued at around £60m. Still, there is a chance his asking price will be raised if he performs well at the World Cup.
Contrary to earlier reports, Leao has not been offered to Barcelona and there has been no fallout with his manager Max Allegri. Despite this, a summer move could be on the cards.
City are not the only club interested in Leao
Should Man City choose to place a bid for Leao, they will be competing against both Liverpool and Manchester United.
Additionally, Real Madrid hold an interest in securing the Portugal star’s services, as they look to improve on what has continued to be a disappointing La Liga campaign.
It is no surprise Leao is wanted by numerous clubs, considering he has recorded 10 goals and three assists in 27 appearances this season.
Leao would challenge Jeremy Doku
Man City already have Jeremy Doku and Antoine Semenyo, who are both capable of playing on the left wing. In fact, this is a position Phil Foden and Savinho could slot into as well.
Nevertheless, Hugo Viana is aware that the Citizens could lose some important players this summer, so he is considering potential transfer targets across all areas.
One advantage of signing Leao is that he is more of a goal threat than Doku, with the Belgian netting only twice in the Premier League this season.
Therefore, Leao could prove to be a strong signing, provided City are able to see off their competitors.
