  • Rayan Cherki opened the scoresheet
  • Erling Haaland sealed the deal for City
  • Kai Havertz scored a stray goal after a goalkeeper error

We’ve rated every Manchester City player from the back-and-forth at the Etihad, which resulted in a knife-edge victory for the home side.

Manchester City player ratings vs Arsenal

Gianluigi Donnarumma – 6.5

Made a horrible error that cost Man City the lead early on. However, the goalkeeper didn’t let it pull him down as he also saved the Citizens with a double save later in the game. Then, Donnarumma started the attack, which led to the winning goal.

Matheus Nunes – 6.5

Nunes showed brilliant awareness when he laid the ball off his chest for Cherki. However, it was a sloppy decision to play the ball to Donnarumma when the space around him was too closed off.

Abdukodir Khusanov – 7

Impressive intervention on Kai Havertz. That play could’ve cost the Citizens, and the scoresheet would’ve been reversed. Quiet in the first half, but made important contributions in the second.

Marc Guehi – 6

Gave the ball away, leading to a pretty big chance for Arsenal. Luckily for the home side, Donnarumma saved the day with a double save. Not his best defensively in a clash which needed his security.

Nico O’Reilly – 7.5

Was very good on the ball. Quickly corrected his errors whenever he lost the ball. He was the key on multiple buildup occasions and smartly led the line during the second goal buildup.

Rodri – 7.5

Rodri was present at the right moment at the right time, but couldn’t get his best shot behind the ball. However, that remained the player’s motto during the whole game, especially in the second half. The Ballon d’Or winner controlled the tempo of the game and was the crux of City’s structure.

Bernardo Silva – 6.5

Less controlling today, but made important contributions. Shurgged off Havertz, as the chance could’ve led to another equaliser later in the second half. A set-piece threat and almost scored a goal directly from a corner, only to be denied by William Saliba.

Antoine Semenyo – 5.5

Another underwhelming game for the Ghana international. Was caught making poor decisions multiple times during the game. Overall impact was low and could’ve done better.

Rayan Cherki – 8.5

Another impressive display from the Frenchman. Opened the scoresheet and created the most chances for the Sky Blues (2). The most consistent attacking spark in City’s frontline.

Jeremy Doku – 7

A lower output game compared to Chelsea. Cherki created most of the threats today, and Doku couldn’t find his best self. Made multiple errors in the final third, missing obvious chances. However, still a constant outlet compared to Semenyo.

Erling Haaland – 7.5

Not dominant overall, but was in the right place most of the time. However, failed to convert multiple chances. Still scored the winning goal for Man City, but could’ve scored more than one today.
