- Walker explains key factor behind his decision
Kyle Walker has revealed the best manager he has played under, delivering a strong verdict after working with some of the biggest names in football.
Former Man City right-back Kyle Walker had the pleasure of playing under some of the best names in football.
Pep Guardiola, Mauricio Pochettino and Harry Redknapp are just some of the big names the right-back played for.
However, it is an undeniable fact that Guardiola was the one who brought out the best in the English international.
Now, in an interview with the Professional Footballers’ Association, the right-back named his best managers.
Kyle Walker has two favourite managers
The Professional Footballers’ Association did not ask Walker to name his favourite manager, but instead ran him through some categories.
Nevertheless, the groupings included the GOAT manager, best tactician, best man manager. Also, there were choices to be made as to who was the best motivator, best at playing mind games, best manager he has never played under and the best manager he has played under.
Pep Guardiola made two of those categories. Walker listed the Man City boss in the GOAT manager and best tactician grouping.
However, a different manager made three other categories. The Englishman named Neil Warnock as the best motivator, best man manager and best at playing mind games.
Evidently, Walker picked Carlo Ancelotti as the best manager he’s never played under. Conversely, though the right-back wouldn’t name the best manager he’s ever played under and said, “Difficult, difficult. I think all of them in their own right.”
What Guardiola thinks of Kyle Walker
Consequently, it will not come as a surprise that Guardiola thinks highly of the right-back. After playing almost 26,000 minutes under the manager, the defender won 17 titles at the Etihad Stadium
The Englishman was one of the most consistent players under Guardiola. As a result, he became the manager’s go-to player on the right flank.
“One of the greatest; in terms of consistency, no injuries, playing every single game, an incredible figure in the locker room”, Gaurdiola said.
Why Pep Guardiola is the best manager City has ever had
Walker was lucky to play under the Guardiola. By any serious metric, the Catalan boss is probably the best manager City has ever had.
After all, he has won 19 titles with the Sky Blues and still has two titles on offer with the club this season, having already won the Carabao Cup.
However, after a decade, Guardiola will most probably leave the club this season and will be one of the most iconic personalities in the club’s history.
