- Manchester City have won the Carabao Cup
- Nico O’Reilly scored both his team’s goals
- He has described the feeling as ‘unbelievable’
Nico O’Reilly has revealed how he felt after he scored twice for Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.
Manchester City barely had a chance in the first half of the League Cup final, with Arsenal looking the most likely team to score.
However, Nico O’Reilly delivered five minutes of absolute brilliance, as he put his team two goals ahead, leaving Arsenal with a big deficit to overcome.
The first was very much an error of Kepa Arrizabalaga’s own making, but the left-back aimed his header perfectly to double Man City’s advantage.
Arsenal fought hard to make a comeback, but it was City who triumphed and this was the result of O’Reilly’s vital contributions.

“Unbelievable feeling, O’Reilly told Sky Sports. “To win a final, to beat this team we know how good they are. We need to build on it, it will give us good momentum. Buzzing with today.
“Bit of disbelief seeing all the fans cheering like that when I scored those goals. Really a good feeling and a great birthday weekend.”
“Since I was a kid I always played in midfield, I was always arriving in the box and scoring goals. To bring it in at senior level and the highest level, it’s good for me and adds goals to my game. A great feeling.”
O’Reilly has proved his doubters wrong
Man City fans have been quite happy with O’Reilly’s displays as a midfielder, but he really struggled as a left-back against Real Madrid.
Despite this, O’Reilly had absolutely no problem on Sunday and he was able to get forward and deliver two goals in a huge fixture.
City still have the Premier League and FA Cup to play for and it seems inevitable now that the Englishman will have an important part to play for his club.
