Real Madrid defeated Manchester City in the Champions League thanks to goals from Vincius Jr, who busted out a controversial celebration directed at the home supporters.
Manchester City looked likely to secure a draw at the Etihad Stadium, which would not have been a bad result considering Bernardo Silva’s red card.
This was until Vinicius Jr scored right at the end to wrap up the win for Real Madrid, who already possessed a comfortable lead in the tie.
The Brazilian will not be popular with Man City fans after his stoppage time winner, but what he did after his first goal is what wound them up the most.
Vincius Jr explains his crying celebration against Man City
When Vinicius scored from the penalty spot, he ran towards the stands and made a crying gesture with his hands.
According to the winger, this was in response to a banner the Man City fans displayed on his previous visit to the Etihad Stadium.
There was a lot of unrest in Real Madrid’s camp after Rodri won the Ballon d’or over Vinicius. This prompted City’s followers to create a tifo which displayed their midfielder with his prize alongside the famous Oasis lyric: “Stop crying your heart out.”

Vinicius told Prime Video Sport after the match: “The last time I came to Man City, they were sort of making fun of me, saying maybe I was crying about the Ballon d’Or.
“I wasn’t disrespecting the Man City fans, it was just a way to sort of prove myself to the Manchester City fanbase today.”
Vinicus should have scored a hat-trick
If truth be told, Vinicus should have been celebrating four or five times in front of the Man City supporters, as he missed a lot of chances.
The 25-year-old played well to get himself into shooting positions, but he really should have finished the game off sooner.
However, neither Vinicius, nor Real Madrid will be bothered, because they won the match and easily secured a big aggregate victory.
