“We have a chance”: Bernardo Silva refuses to give up on Manchester City’s Champions League hopes

Manchester City have taken a heavy defeat at the hands of Real Madrid, but Bernardo Silva has not ruled out a comeback at the Etihad Stadium.

One goal led to another is the story of Real Madrid’s 3-0 victory over Manchester City at the Bernabeu.

It never felt like the home team were dominating the game, but they took pretty much every chance which came their way. Well, except for a wasted penalty kick in the second half by Vinicius Jr.

In the end, Real Madrid recorded a statement victory and now have a massive advantage heading into the second leg.

Despite this, a number of Man City players have already made it clear they have no intention of giving up the fight, including the club captain.

Bernardo Silva believes Manchester City still have a chance

If Man City truly believed there was no chance of progression into the quarter-finals, there would be no point even turning up at the Eithad Stadium next Tuesday.

However, this is not the case, with Bernardo Silva calling on his team to believe there is a chance they will deliver an epic comeback.

He told Man City: “At 3-0 it makes it a bit more difficult. Now it feels really bad, now it feels really dark. Tomorrow is another day and for sure next week we will go to the game thinking we have a chance.

“Right now is the moment to reflect and see what we didn’t do right. Then next week when we are preparing we will be hopeful we can do something.”

Man City must take inspiration from Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool

Back in 2019, Liverpool found themselves with a three-goal deficit after a dreadful night at the Nou Camp against Barcelona.

Had Ousmane Dembele taken a straightforward chance at the end, it would have been four and the same could be said of Real Madrid after Vinicus missed his penalty.

Although the odds were against Liverpool, they found a way to bag four goals in the home leg and ended up winning the competition.

So long as Man City believe, there is a chance of coming out on top. It has been done before, so it can be done again.
