Pep Guardiola details why Manchester City’s busy schedule is actually a ‘privilege’

Manchester City have a lot of games coming up, but this is a ‘dream’ scenario, according to Pep Guardiola.

The modern-day football calendar is busy even at the quietest of times and this is especially true for teams like Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s side already have six fixtures scheduled during the month of March and there could be one or two more once their calendar has been sorted.

This makes it difficult to perform at the same intensity each week, but the Sky Blues do not have a choice when and how often they play.

Pep Guardiola is delighted by Man City’s progress this season

Playing twice in the same week on a regular basis is far from ideal and Guardiola has already slammed the FA Cup for their scheduling.

However, the Man City boss is very pleased that he is still competing in four different competitions, which makes having to play so much worthwhile.

He said: “It is a privilege to be in March and we are in all the competitions. It’s a dream. It is a privilege. Last season, we fought but were out of the Champions League and FA Cup.

“Next Saturday against Newcastle, two games against Real Madrid. If you win, you continue, if you don’t win, holidays in that competition. I am only concerned about that.”

Guardiola has the right attitude

Looking ahead, Man City have some difficult fixtures coming up and being knocked out of three competitions within the next month is certainly not out of the question.

Therefore, Guardiola is right to be grateful for the situation his team find themselves in, with the opportunity remaining to win multiple trophies.

Having said this, City are a tough team to beat and could still be facing this issue of having too many fixtures, as Guardiola says, is actually a privilege.
