Galatasaray pursue permanent move for Jason Denayer

Turkish giants Galatasaray are desperate to sign Manchester City defender Jason Denayer on a permanent basis this summer after impressing during his loan spell at the club last season, according to a report on Turkish Football.

The Belgian international was a key figure at the heart of the Galatasaray defence as they won the Super Lig title.

Manager Fatih Terim has praised Denayer publicly on numerous occasions and admitted that signing his was the main priority for the club during this transfer window.

When speaking about Denayer, Terim said:

We are trying to improve our squad despite the economic barriers in front of us. Signing Denayer and Nagatomo this summer is critical for us. God willing, Jason Denayer will also re-join us this summer.

Denayer has failed to break into the Manchester City first team since they signed him four years ago and the 23-year-old is looking to settle down at one club. He has been sent on loan four times and with Galatasaray having Champions league football, he could be tempted to make the move.

The defender was left out of Belgium’s World Cup squad by Roberto Martinez and he is a fan favourite in Turkey so for him, the move makes sense. Pep Guardiola has made no indication that he intends to integrate Denayer into his first team plans for next season.
