Man City consider triggering £20m buy-back clause on midfielder

Premier League champions Manchester City are eyeing a £20m move for Huddersfield Town midfielder Aaron Mooy this summer, according to a report on The Sportsman.

The midfielder was initially on loan but made a permanent move to Huddersfield last summer, with City including a buy-back clause in the deal.

The 27-year-old was influential for The Terriers last season as he helped them to escape relegation from the Premier League.

Mooy never got the chance to play for City during his first spell at the club but is said to be keen to prove himself at the highest level and if Pep Guardiola comes calling, he is unlikely to turn him down.

With City set to challenge in all competitions next season, Guardiola is looking strengthen the depth of his squad and a player like Mooy would be perfect for him.

However, fellow Premier League clubs Everton, Southampton and West Ham United are all interested in signing Mooy, but City’s buy-back clause makes him available at a much cheaper price.

Mooy started all three matches for Australia during the group stages of the World Cup but could not help them progress to the knockout stages.
