Manchester City are reportedly contemplating a summer move for Southampton defender Ryan Bertrand.
The England international was heavily linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium last summer and according to claims from the Mirror, the Premier League champions may revisit their interest in him.
Bertrand has been wearing the captain’s armband for Saints in recent weeks but hasn’t enjoyed a good season. He has struggled with consistency and has come in for some criticism from some of the club’s supporters.
The ex-Chelsea man has been at the club since the summer of 2014 but with relegation looming at St Mary’s Stadium, it seems he may seek a way out of Southampton.
Manchester City are keen to land a new left-back in the summer to compete with Benjamin Mendy, who has missed most of the season with a serious knee injury.
Bertrand will be hoping to impress in the 2018 World Cup, with Gareth Southgate likely to call on him as England’s starting left-back.
