Manchester City star Aguero ruled out of clash for Argentina
Argentina boss Jorge Sampaoli has confirmed that Sergio Aguero will miss Argentina’s friendly against Italy at the Etihad Stadium, Sky Sports report.
Aguero has been injured for the majority of the month and has had to undergo treatment in Abu Dhabi. He is currently in rehabilitation and could return for the friendly game against Spain on Tuesday.
The Argentina boss said:
We have been talking to team doctors at Manchester City and evaluating the situation to see if there is any possibility he can play any part in the two games.
The striker has scored 31 goals this season for City, with 21 in 22 Premier League games, which is a superb return considering he was overlooked in favour of Gabriel Jesus for the first half of the campaign.
When speaking of his player’s injury problems, Sampaoli also spoke of Aguero’s ability, stating that he isn’t as good now as he was when he was a teenager:
Sergio Aguero has wowed Europe for the last 12 years but he was even better as a teenager.
Aguero should return to the Manchester City squad ahead of their trip to Everton, a match which could see Manchester City move just one win away from lifting the Premier League title for the third time, against Manchester United for that matter.
