Guardiola eyes sensational Iniesta move

Manchester City are planning a sensational summer move for Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta.

The Mirror reports that Guardiola wants to bring the player to the Premier League, despite the player due to turn 34 in May.

Iniesta was recently rewarded with a ‘contract for life’ at Barcelona but it is being reported that a move is not out of the question.

Philippe Coutinho was signed by Barcelona in the January window, a player who was viewed as a long-term successor to Iniesta.

The Brazilian’s arrival could soften Barcelona’s stance on a summer deal for a player who has become symbolic with the Catalan side.

Iniesta has already suggested he will retire from international football after this summer’s World Cup as his career begins to reach its final stages.

The Spanish international was a key figure in Guardiola’s Barcelona side that enjoyed unprecedented success.

Three La Liga titles, two Copa del Reys and two Champions League are among just some of the trophies the pair won together at Barcelona.
