City were keen to bring the Algerian in to the club after losing Leroy Sane to an ankle injury, but were unable to agree a fee with Leicester.
The player himself was desperate to move and ever reportedly went AWOL from his club ahead of their game against Everton this evening.
Time will tell if City look elsewhere for another player, but time would be very much against them if they did.
