Shakhtar star Fred opens the door to City move

Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred has opened the door to a move to Manchester City in the near future.

The Brazilian playmaker has been linked with the Premier League leaders in recent times and it seems Fred himself would relish the opportunity to play in such an impressive side.

Speaking to Globo Esporte, the 24-year-old revealed that he believes he would “grow” into a better player under Pep Guardiola’s tutelage.

England has the most disputed league in the world, I have the wish to play there. It could fit me well. It would be important to play the English league with one of the great managers. It’s a dream I have.

A great manager like Guardiola and a great team like City that has been doing this job this year. Surely I would grow a lot with him. I have a lot to grow. Now I’ll continue doing my work for Shaktar so then, yes, I’ll be well seen by everyone.

Fred has been a key component of Paulo Fonseca’s Shakhtar side this season and he has been in excellent form. A number of clubs across Europe are being linked with a swoop for the Brazilian, who appears to have a bright future ahead of him.

Manchester United and Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Fred but it seems he could have his heart set on a move to the Etihad Stadium in the event that City do indeed pursue him.
