Guardiola and Sane pick up Premier League awards

Pep Guardiola has won the Premier League Manager of the Month award for October, while Leroy Sané has been named as the Premier League Player of the Month.

Guardiola’s men have won all three of their matches this October as a crucial part of their unbeaten start to the season, scoring 13 goals, including seven in the emphatic home win against Stoke City.

In those three games, Sane has scored three goals, scoring one in each of the three matches, while making three assists in addition, again one in each match.

Meanwhile, in October, Guardiola’s men also beat Napoli at home 2-1 in the enthralling Champions League match at the Etihad and also beat top of the Wolverhampton Wanderers on penalties in the EFL Cup.

In the month, City beat Stoke City 7-2 at the Etihad as well as beating Burnley at home 3-0 before going to the Hawthorns and narrowly overcoming Tony Pulis’ West Bromwich Albion side 3-2.

Away from these two awards, the Goal of the Month went to Southampton’s Sofiane Boufal, for his run along the entire pitch at St Mary’s in the 1-0 win against West Brom.

Since the end of October, City’s run has not ended with the historic 4-2 win away at Napoli in the Champions League where Sergio Aguero broke the all-time goalscoring record before beating Arsenal 3-1 in the league prior to the international break.
