Aguero facing six weeks out of action

Sergio Aguero’s rib injury could keep him sidelined for longer than what was first anticipated.

According to Argentina’s national team doctor, as cited by the Belfast Telegraph, the Manchester City striker could be facing around six weeks out of action.

It was initially reported that Aguero would return within around a month, but it appears as though it will be a little while longer before he is available for Pep Guardiola’s men.

Donato Villani had this to say about Aguero’s condition, and it doesn’t bode well for the former Atletico Madrid striker:

He’s feeling very bad because he was really looking forward to coming to play and this incident, which had nothing to do with him, left him out of the two games.

He’s going to be off the pitch for a month and a half. He can’t move in his house, nor get in and out of the car. He seemed very down to me because we wanted to be here.

Aguero would miss a number of key games for City if Villani’s suggestions are proven to be correct. These games include the club’s Champions League group stage double header against Napoli.

The experienced Argentina international suffered a broken rib following a concert in Amsterdam, as his taxi crashed into a pole late in the evening.

Aguero will now hope to recover in a swift manner.
