Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan reportedly hopes to be back in contention within the next week.
The German international hobbled off against West Brom on Wednesday night, as City narrowly defeated the Baggies in the third round of the Carabao Cup. A brace from Leroy Sane either side of a volley from Claudio Yacob helped Pep Guardiola’s men to the next phase of the competition.
However, despite City having secured yet another victory, a concern came in the form of Gundogan’s substitution. The former Borussia Dortmund man has been desperately unlucky with injuries since his arrival in Manchester, and was scythed down by Yacob in the second-half.

It’s claimed today, though, by the Daily Mail that Gundogan believes he can be fit before the end of the month, allaying fears that he faces another prolonged period on the sidelines.
Gundogan is keen to be available for selection ahead of City’s trip to Chelsea next Saturday, but is set to miss the team’s clash against Crystal Palace this weekend.
