Manchester City have had an offer for AS Monaco left-back Benjamin Mendy rejected, according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol.

The Citizens are keen to acquire a new left-back this summer and it’s believed that Mendy is their top target. However, if they are to land the France international, it looks as though they will need to stump up more than the £44.5 million that they have offered.
Monaco are keen to keep hold of the remainder of their top players having already sold Tiemoue Bakayoko and Bernardo Silva this summer. Mendy is a player that is high in demand, and City appeared to be front-runners in the race to sign him.

Despite this though, Monaco are digging their heels in and look set to demand top dollar for their left-back, who established himself as one of Europe’s best in his position last season.
Pep Guardiola has just Aleksandar Kolarov on the books in terms of senior left-backs, but the likely-incoming Danilo is a capable left-sided defender too.
