According to the Mirror, Pep Guardiola wants to sign Danny Rose in the summer to replace Gael Clichy, and is confident he can get him for under £50 million. Luke Shaw has been rumoured to be a potential replacement for Rose at his current club Tottenham Hotspur.
Guardiola sees Rose as potentially a key component of his revamped squad for next season. The report claims that the City boss is looking to offload Clichy, Bacary Sagna and club captain Vincent Kompany this summer in order to fix an ageing defence.
Rose would be the first part of Guardiola’s summer building plan but Tottenham don’t need to sell any of their first-team players. However, with White Hart Lane going through a rebuilding process which will cost up to £750 million, Spurs owner Daniel Levy may want to accept a massive offer to raise some extra funds.
Rose only signed a four-and-a-half year contract a few months ago, but Manchester City can offer him double what he earns currently at Spurs which may prove to be a huge factor if he does leave.
Rose has proved to be a crucial part of Mauricio Pochettino’s setup this campaign and the Argentine manager will want one of his best performers to remain at the club for the foreseeable future.
