Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has been shortlisted for the BBC African Footballer of the Year.
This is the eighth time the Ivorian has been nominated for the award, despite the two-time winner playing just one game so far this season.
Toure has also won the African Football’s African Footballer of the Year four times.
He tweeted on Saturday night: “It’s an honour to be on the shortlist for the BBC African Footballer of the Year award for an eighth time.”

He has made a century of appearances for Ivory Coast but called time on international duty this year after playing in every game of his country’s last three World Cups.
His start to life under Guardiola at City is hardly likely to increase his chances of winning, but despite the fall-out between manager and agent, Toure’s significance to the Blues’ past cannot be overlooked.
