Manchester City are contesting the FA charge given to Sergio Aguero following an elbow incident involving West Ham defender Winston Reid in Sunday’s 3-1 win, reports David McDonnell of the Mirror.
The Argentine striker was hit with a violent conduct charge and had until 6pm on Wednesday 31 August – that deadline was extended until Thursday 1 September at the same time and City have opted to appeal the charge given to their talisman.
The incident in the West Ham game was not saw by referee Andre Marriner or his match officials but was caught on video.

With Aguero and City appealing the charge, the outcome will be determined by an independent panel. For the violent conduct charge to follow, the decision must be unanimous.
If City are unsuccessful with their appeal, it means Aguero would miss the all-important Manchester derby at Old Trafford on 10 September, as well as a game against Bournemouth and an EFL Cup tie with Swansea City. Aguero could well miss the meeting with Mourinho’s United through injury, having picked up a calf injury which led to him pulling out of the Argentina squad.

The three-man commission will review the incident tomorrow.
