City eased out 1-0 winners in last night’s second-leg Champions League qualifier and have made it into the group stages of the competition. City go into the draw in Pot Two, we will find out later who we will face in our group.
Holding a five-goal advantage from the first-leg, Guardiola was handed the luxury of being able to make eight changes from the weekend’s win at Stoke. Hart made a return in an emotional send-off and Toure made his first appearance under Guardiola this season. The Spanish boss also gave some of City’s most promising talents a chance to impress.
it was a dull first half in truth and it took till nearly ten minutes after the break for City to really test the Steaua keeper – Delph coming close from a right-footed shot. But, just moments later the Englishman made his chance count and headed in a Jesus Navas cross for the only goal of the game.
The game wasn’t the spectacle we expected after the match in Romania but there were plenty signs of encouragement from City’s fringe players. Here’s how I rated their performances last night.
