Manchester City’s proposed match with Manchester United has officially been called off today.
The match has been cancelled due to the adverse conditions of the pitch. The weather in Beijing has been far from perfect and the pitch has been affected as a result.
The pitch is currently covered in wet mud and puddles, meaning that it is unsafe for the players to play on.
Manchester City were due to face Manchester United in the International Champions Cup tournament. It would have been the first ever Manchester derby to have been played outside of England, but that will now have to wait for another time.
The match will not be rescheduled, meaning this is a definite cancellation. Although many supporters will be upset with the decision, it was made in the best interests of all parties involved and appears to be the correct call in terms of player safety.
