Wolfsburg’s Rodriguez on Guardiola’s radar

New Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is looking to sign a new left-back this summer and has his sights set on Wolfsburg’s Ricardo Rodriguez, according to the Bleacher Report’s Dean Jones.

City’s current left-back, Aleksandar Kolarov, has been closely linked with a move to Turkish outfit Besiktas in recent days and the search for a replacement is already underway.

Rodriguez, 23, started all four of Switzerland’s Euro 2016 matches, before they fell to a 5-4 penalty defeat to Poland, and has been touted as one of the world’s best full-backs after consistently impressive performances for Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.

A contract extension keeping Rodriguez at Wolfsburg until 2019 was agreed last year and it is believed that a buy-out clause between £21m and £25m is included, which can be activated from this summer onwards.
