Manchester City are considering a shock move for Newcastle winger Andros Townsend, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The Englishman has a release clause of £10.5m and a number of Premier League clubs, including the likes of Liverpool, Southampton, and West Ham are interested in signing him this summer.

Several wide midfielders have been linked with a move to City already this summer as Pep Guardiola looks to mould the squad into his own in preparation for the 2016/17 campaign.
Reports have suggested that Guardiola is interested in Schalke’s Leroy Sane and out-of-favour Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Townsend can now be added to that list.

Townsend impressed for Newcastle in the second half of the season but could not prevent the Magpies from slipping into the Championship.
The 24-year-old’s form also caught the eye of England manager Roy Hodgson, who included Townsend in his preliminary 26-man squad for the European Championships. However, Townsend was cut and did not make the 23-man squad.
