Manchester City are set to launch a bid to sign Germany midfielder Toni Kroos after the European Championships this summer, according to reports in the Sunday Express .

Manchester Evening News previously reported that Guardiola had halted his bid to sign Juventus ace Paul Pogba in favour of keeping Brazilian holding midfielder Fernando at the Etihad.
However, the Sunday Express suggests that Guardiola has cooled his interest in Pogba and turned to Kroos as a replacement.

The 26-year-old played under Guardiola during the Spaniard’s first season at Bayern Munich but then moved on to Real Madrid after an impressive 2014 World Cup campaign.
With Los Blancos heavily linked with the likes of Pogba and Chelsea playmaker Cesc Fabregas, an exit for the German is looking increasingly likely.

Having again impressed on the big stage – his country’s opening two matches of Euro 2016 – Guardiola is looking to sign him as part of a summer overhaul a City.
The ex-Barcelona manager wants to revamp his squad in time for the 2016/17 season and has already added £21m Ilkay Gundogan to his ranks.

Real Madrid are understood to be willing to consider offers in the region of £37m for Kroos and the deal could be completed within in days of the conclusion of Germany’s Euro 2016 campaign.
