Yaya Toure to stay at the Etihad?

Yaya Toure will stay one more year at Manchester City in what is a shock turn of events, according to the Daily Express.

The Ivorian has enjoyed 6 fruitful seasons in the Premier League but it has been widely reported that he is due to move on this summer, amid interest from the likes of Inter Milan and Chinese club Shanghai.

The club has had to put up with a lot during the African’s time here. Various rows with agent Dimitri Seluk and a certain birthday cake mix-up have marred Toure’s spell in England and instigated what seemed like a certain move away, but fresh reports suggest otherwise.

It now looks likely that Toure is prepared to stay one more season under Pep Guardiola as City look to wrestle back the Premier League crown after two years without it. The report implies that his family are happy in England and do not wish to relocate, with the midfielder holding out until he becomes a free agent during the summer of 2017.

It is understood City do not want to sell him on a free transfer, however, with his value still seemingly high. His final year contract- should he go ahead with it- will see Toure pocket £12 million. If Toure were to move on, it would likely be abroad due his huge wage demands of £240,000 a week possibly shying away possible Premier League suitors, but his future still weighs finely in the balance.
