Incoming Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is considering whether or not to renew his rivalry with new Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho early by sparking a transfer battle for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The two are set to meet in a pre-season friendly between their new respective Manchester clubs, four years after they last faced off in an El Clasico match.
The Daily Mail reports that their rivalry could be renewed earlier than expected with both managers looking to strengthen their strike force with the addition of in-demand Aubameyang, who netted 39 times in 46 appearances during the 2015/16 campaign.

Premier League rivals Arsenal and Mourinho’s former club Real Madrid are also said to be interested in signing the Gabon international.

Aubameyang has made it clear in the last couple of seasons that Real Madrid is his preferred destination, but the La Liga giants may not be able to fund a move unless they sell one of their biggest players – such as Gareth Bale or Cristiano Ronaldo.
