Manchester City will go head-to-head with Premier League rivals Chelsea to sign Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba in the summer, according to Manchester Evening News.

Pogba is ready to leave Juventus in order to further his career and the aforementioned Premier League sides are seen to be potential suitors.
Real Madrid have also been rumoured to be interested in the Frenchman’s services but are put off by the £80m price tag.

City and Chelsea, meanwhile, are willing to pay the proposed fee in an attempt to reshape their midfield options ahead of the new season.
Pep Guardiola is poised to oversee a summer exodus at the Etihad Stadium, with the aging squad that he has inherited from Manuel Pellegrini not up to his required standard.
Antonio Conte will also want to stamp his own brand on the Chelsea team and is looking into doing so by acquiring Pogba to mould his team around.

Manchester Evening News also reports that Chelsea currently have the upper hand in the race to sign the 23-year-old, who was managed Conte during the Italian’s stint at Juventus.
