Manchester City holding midfielder Fernando is a summer target for La Liga side Villarreal, according to the Sunday Express.
The Brazilian’s future at the Etihad is uncertain with incoming manager Pep Guardiola unsure whether the ex-Porto man will be needed at the club next season.

Fernando has become an ever-present feature of the City line-up in recent months, having finally showed why Manuel Pellegrini decided to invest in his services in the summer of 2014.
Despite scoring an own goal in Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final defeat to Real Madrid, the 28-year-old was one of the only City players who performed impressively.

However, Villarreal are confident of securing a deal to lure Fernando to Estadio El Madrigal for a fee in the region of £10m.
The Express understands that City will not stand in the way if Fernando wants to leave, but are likely to demand a fee close to the £12m that they paid for him.
