Tuesday night’s season-defining clash with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain has the potential to create more history for Manchester City just as, like it or lump it, Manuel Pellegrini has already done during his tenure at the Etihad Stadium.
Having already won three major tournaments for City’s trophy cabinet, this season’s Champions League is another opportunity to do that.
The Chilean plays quick, attacking football and, during his first season, was best-known for motivating his side with a stellar half-time team talk and the players returning to the pitch with fire in their belly.
The performances have tailed off this season for a number of reasons and Pellegrini has faced criticism for failing to retain the support of the dressing room.
Pellegrini will be waving goodbye to Manchester come the end of May and, in tribute to his time at the club, we decided to look into the Sky Blues’ top five performances whilst under his influence.
