Manchester City are closing in on the signing of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, according to Sky Sports.
Incoming manager Pep Guardiola sees the 25-year-old as an ideal replacement for Yaya Toure, who is expected to leave the club in the summer.

However, City and Dortmund are struggling to agree on a deal for Gundogan.
The Sky Blues are willing to pay £28.3m for the German playmaker but Dortmund are looking for a fee in the region of £36.4m.

Guardiola reportedly sees Gundogan as the centre of his plan at the Etihad Stadium when he takes over from Manuel Pellegrini on the 1st of July.
A meeting was held between Gundogan, his father, his agent and City sporting director Txiki Begiristain in March to discuss the deal, and Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel has since revealed that the ex-Nurnberg player’s future at the club is uncertain.

Having been linked with players such as Barcelona anchor Sergio Busquets and Juventus holding midfielder Paul Pogba, it appears that Gundogan is the midfielder that will arrive in the summer and he could be Guardiola’s first signing.
