Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has urged his side to ‘finish the season the way we started’ after Saturday’s convincing 4-0 away victory over Bournemouth.
The Citizens began the season with five consecutive wins, and clean sheets, and were in firm control of the Premier League title race.

However, City’s hopes of securing a third Premier League title in five years were derailed by losses to title rivals Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur as well as cross-city rivals Manchester United but, speaking after the match, the Chilean boss refused to agree with suggestions that his side have heavily underperformed this campaign.
I am very happy with the response of the squad because except for those three key home games (Leicester, Tottenham and Manchester United), it’s not a bad season otherwise.
Pellegrini still believes that his squad deserves credit for their achievements this season despite being hampered by injuries.
One of the merits of this squad having so many injuries this season, is that this is the last English team in the Champions League, this is the team that won the Capital One Cup.

Following the aforementioned win over Bournemouth, Pellegrini was confident that his side could still have an impact in the race for this season’s Premier League crown and will do their best to push it to the wire.
If you have a winning mentality you must always believe you can win the league if the maths allows. But it is not in our hands, so we just have to keep on winning games.

And now, with key players like Kevin De Bruyne returning to fitness, the outgoing manager believes that they can return to winning ways.
So with players like Kevin De Bruyne coming back hopefully we can return all our key players together, and I hope we can finish the season the same way we started.
