Manchester City got their first bit of silverware of the season with a penalty shoot-out win over Liverpool.
The Blues were in total control and were ahead just after half-time when Fernandinho slammed home from the right. City should have been out of sight with Raheem Sterling squandering two huge chances against his ex employers.
And they were made to rue those chances when Coutinho bagged a late equaliser in normal time. But it did make it all the sweeter when City clinched the win on penalties – with Caballero denying Liverpool on three occasions.
Yaya Toure scored the decisive spot-kick to send City fans into raptures.
