Celina – I have to take my opportunity
Manchester City starlet Bersant Celina is set to be given a start against Chelsea on Sunday and he knows that he must seize his opportunity.
The 19-year-old has been impressing City’s coaching staff in training and, with the current fixture congestion and a long list of injuries, has been given a chance to prove himself in the Premier League.
Celina came on as a substitute when the Sky Blues were 3-0 down to Leicester and still managed to providing a spark – assisting Sergio Aguero’s consolation goal.
Academy coach Simon Davies held talks with the youngster during the transfer window and discussed the possibility of him going out on loan. A flurry of late interest was rebuffed by City, who felt that Celina could be a useful asset for the second half of the season.
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, the Kosovo international understood that chances like the match this weekend do not emerge very often.
I feel ready but obviously we’re at one of the biggest clubs in the world. It’s always hard to get in the team but if I get the chance then I am ready.
Even if I’m ready here I can’t just go in and take the place of one of the best players in the world.
Celina, alongside a host of other young players, will attempt to defy the odds and overcome an in-form Chelsea side and reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.
