Barcelona superstar Luis Suarez has been made Pep Guardiola’s number one priority for the summer transfer window, according to the Sunday Mirror.
The 29-year-old is one of Europe’s most prolific strikers this season, scoring 35 times in 33 appearances.
Guardiola is a well-known admirer of Suarez after competing with his former side Barcelona to sign the Uruguayan when he was at Liverpool.
The Spanish coach is set to reignite his interest in the summer and use Suarez’s increasing age as a way to reduce the transfer fee.
Suarez is currently represented by Pep’s brother Pere and the Sky Blues could use those connections to try and lure the ex-Ajax forward to the Etihad.
Suarez, however, revealed in an interview last week that he would only return to the Premier League if it was with Liverpool and is happy at the Nou Camp playing alongside Neymar and Lionel Messi – two other players that have been linked with a summer switch to the Sportscity complex.
If a move were to go ahead, it could see Wilfried Bony’s unsuccessful City career come to an abrupt halt.
Could Pep and Pere Guardiola convince the Ballon d’Or outsider to make the move?
