Deadline Day wasn’t particularly memorable for transfers but Manchester City did make a massive signing with the news that Pep Guardiola will indeed replace Manuel Pellegrini in the summer. We managed to speak with Sunday Mirror Chief Football Writer Simon Mullock to discuss all things Pellegrini and Pep.
Simon talked about the timing of the announcement, the job Guardiola has on his hands, Pep’s backroom staff and where Brian Kidd will fit in as well.
He also provided details of when and where the Guardiola unveiling could happen and what is next for Pellegrini.
Moreover, we asked Simon whether or not he buys into claims that Guardiola inherits great, ready-made sides, and crucially, just how much rebuilding needs to be done at City when Pep arrives?
Can we expect the likes of Nasri and Toure to move on? And will some players heads be turned by the opportunity to play under Guardiola?
I hope you enjoy this chat and encourage you to send in any feedback to us @ReadManCity on twitter.
Excuse the dog barking at the end, it seems the fact that Guardiola will manage Manchester City is too much to handle for some.
