City are still undecided over whether Kelechi Iheanacho will replace Samir Nasri as part of the Champions League squad.
The Nigerian has been one of the success stories of the season after scoring five goals so far this season, and it believed that Nasri should be sacrificed to make way for the youngster as City prepare to name their 25 man squad ahead of the last 16 tie with Ukranian side Dynamo Kiev next month.
Iheanacho missed out on the group stage of the competition during the first part of the season due to City filling their quota of 17 overseas players, but is looking to be a part of the revised roster ahead of the knockout rounds.
City’s limit of overseas players means that at present they have no space for the African to make his debut in Europe, but the persistent long-term injury sustained by his fellow team-mate could mean that former Arsenal man Nasri could be the one to make way after struggling to stay fit for large parts of this season.
However, Pellegrini is aware that Nasri could well make a comeback as early as March and is therefore speculative about reports: “I have not decided yet but we are thinking about that. We are going to have the report of the doctor one day before we must send the new list of the Champions League and then we will decide.”
The Blues are obliged to submit the full squad list by February 2nd before the first-leg showdown with Kiev in Ukraine later in the month.
