Manchester City are poised to beat Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool to the signing of Atletic Bilbao winger Inaki Williams, according to the Daily Express.
The 21-year-old has recently signed a new deal in Spain, with a €50m buy-out clause, but City are willing to pay a substantial amount to secure his services.
After a string of stellar performances in La Liga, scoring six goals so far this season, pundits are predicting that the Spain U21 international could force his way into the senior squad for this summer’s European Championships.
Williams could arrive as part of the summer rebuild at the Etihad Stadium, where Pep Guardiola is expected to arrive and put an immediate stamp on his squad.
The two-time Premier League champions have reportedly fought off fierce interest from the aforementioned Liverpool and Arsenal, as well as Spanish giants Real Madrid, who have loosened their interest since Williams’ buy-out clause was revealed to be in the region of £38m.
