UPDATE: Evans has now officially signed a permanent deal with Reading, signing a three-and-a-half year deal with the Royals.
George Evans has come up through the Man City academy and has now decided that it is time to be playing his football elsewhere.
The midfielder has only just arrived back at the Etihad Stadium recently, and according to Sky Sports, the 21-year-old will be leaving for Championship side Reading this month.
Evans was previously on loan to League 1 side, Walsall and had impressed with four goals in seventeen appearances for the Saddlers in all competitions. Evans has also spent time on loan to Crewe and Scunthorpe but has made just a single first team appearance for City.
It is apparent that Reading’s Championship rivals, Brentford were keen on signing the young midfielder to Griffin Park in time to allow him to help with the remainder of their campaign, but Reading were a more encouraging prospect for the exciting talent. Brentford boss Dean Smith was previously the manager of Walsall, the club Evans has been performing well for in recent weeks.
Reading are currently 14th in the Championship with 34 points and sit two points behind Brentford who have 36 points. So far both sides have played 27 of their 38 matches and Brentford have won three out of the four previous meetings between the two sides.
