Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart has been sidelined for up to two weeks with a hamstring injury that was sustained in Wednesday night’s match in Turin.
The England international could return in City’s final Champions League match against Borussia Monchengladbach, but is poised to miss two Premier League games – against Southampton and Stoke – and the club’s Capital One Cup quarter-final at home to Hull.
Argentine shotstopper Willy Caballero is set to step into the line-up and Richard Wright could make his first competitive appearance for the Sky Blues in the next couple of weeks.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini does not want to risk Hart aggravating his injury because any more damage to the muscle could see the ex-Shrewsbury keeper ruled out for months.
It is not serious but a muscle injury – so it is important to recover well.
Hart has been in formidable form in recent weeks, keeping seven clean sheets already this season. However, Pellegrini believes that Caballero can produce the same level of performance in the coming weeks.
We lost Joe in a very good moment but it is what happens. I trust a lot in Willy Caballero. I am sure he will have a good performance in these games.
