Manchester City have announced via their official website that they are going to change their badge back to a round crest after Cityzens voted on whether the crest should be innovated or not.
Cityzens (supporters that have memberships at the club) have been allowed to express their opinions in a consultation block at the Sportscity campus and it has now been revealed that an ‘overwhelming’ number of fans preferred the layout of the old badge to the current one.
The club are now working to design a new crest and it is set to be revealed in the coming weeks after it has first been seen by the Cityzens who wanted the change.
Kevin Parker, who has a leading role at the Manchester City’s Supporters Club, said:
I am delighted that the Club consulted with the fans about our most important symbol. It is impressive that they canvassed our opinions on this matter and that they want to reflect our feedback in the ultimate design.
The Englishman also went on to imply that the eagle will not feature in the new design.
On a personal note, while the Eagle badge will rightly live on in fans’ hearts, minds and on football kits for all that it has come to symbolise over the years, I am pleased that we will once again see the round design which has twice featured in our past badges.
