Numerous reports have suggested that the Italian did not want a return to Europe. However, it looks like the holding midfielder may have reconsidered his options.
The 36-year-old, who was part of Juventus’ 2014/15 Champions League campaign when they reached the final, spent the majority of his career in Italy but looks like he could finally grace the Premier League should Sky Italy’s sources be trusted.
The loan period is poised to last for two months – between January and March – but Pirlo is unlikely to disrupt the Fernandinho-Toure partnership in the centre of midfield.
Two of Pirlo’s teammates in New York – David Villa and Frank Lampard – have also been linked with loan moves away from America during the off-season.
