The England youth international has been on loan at sibling club New York City this season and, although the MLS outfit have failed to impress in their debut campaign, Facey has been a rock in the defence.
A mistake on Manchester City’s Twitter account saw them announce that Facey would return to America for the next two years before quickly deleting it and replacing it with the one above.
The 20-year-old is eligible to play for City’s Elite Development Squad from 2016 onwards, but it is understood that a decision on his immediate future beyond this year has yet to be decided.
Facey will act as a replacement for any of the Citizens’ four centre-backs – Vincent Kompany, Nicolas Otamendi, Eliaquim Mangala and Martin Demichelis – until the January transfer window.
